Easter Delights

Our celebration of Easter on board is purely secular: egg decorating, an Easter egg hunt and Easter time culinary delights. Should you be traveling with a group that would like to host its own private religious service or event on board, please discuss with your travel advisor or Group Coordinator to inquire about this possibility.

While AmaWaterways does not offer any organized church visits or excursions, if your ship is docked in a location with a church, you are more than welcome to attend or inquire within during any of our cruises. We do, however, kindly ask that you return to the ship for the “All Aboard Time” listed within our Daily Cruiser onboard newsletter, available within our myAmaCruise app.

On the Danube River, depending on your departure date, we may visit Easter Markets in Budapest, Vienna and Salzburg, as long as they are open. In addition, for guests who reserve our optional land package in Prague, we will visit Easter Markets there as well. For specific open dates, please refer to the tourism site for each city.

European Easter Markets are typically brimming with hand-painted decorative eggs – a major highlight of the market stalls. However, you may also find handicrafts such as ceramics, jewelry, glassware, candles and wooden trinkets, as well as Easter breads, regional cuisine, spring flowers and artisanal chocolates, depending on the destination.

Typically not! We incorporate visits to the Easter Markets into our regularly planned excursions. However, if you prefer to spend a longer time at the markets, you are more than welcome to do so as long as you return to the ship for our “All Aboard Time.”

Generally, European stores and shops shut down during Easter weekend and especially on Easter Sunday. However, we do still operate our excursions. While it may be possible to find one or two gift shops open in the major tourist areas, most businesses close for the holiday.

While there are no current plans for a visit from the Easter Bunny, we do have some special surprises and delights in store for guests of all generations.
